What makes the Privacy Breastfeeding Coverup unique, is its effectiveness as a privacy aid & its poncho-like design to keep it in place. Worn as a poncho or apron, it provides full coverage over both shoulders, as well as width and length to cover sides and midriff. And its "hands-free" design and roomy opening for the head enhances mother-infant bonding with face-to-face contact, not possible with ordinary nursing blankets. A pocket is provided on most styles for discretely storing used nursing pads, pacifier, etc. Reversible styles have inside and outside pockets. Non-reversible styles have a soft, cotton knit backing.

When I was pregnant with my first child, my aunt gave me a large receiving blanket with a hole in the top for my head. I used it for all four of my active little nursing daughters and loved it. I was able  to look into the hole, make adjustments as needed and interact with my little one. When I was at church or at a shopping mall, many women came to me and commented on how wonderful they thought my "cover-up" was. They remarked how they traditionally held a blanket over their shoulder and struggled with keeping it in place while feeding, adjusting and holding their babies. On those occasions when I did not have my cover-up, I quickly realized how frustrating it can be trying to use a standard blanket or other coverup. I missed my cover-up and had trouble imagining using the traditional ones on a regular basis.
I made several cover-ups for friends who were frustrated with the challenges of breatfeeding in public and I soon became committed to developing a product available to all breastfeeding mothers. My original cover-up did not have pockets and I found it embarrassing to take my nursing pads out of my top and lay them in view in public. So I added pockets to my design for storing used pads during feedings. Experimenting with this and other designs ultimately became my inspiration for the first in a series of products of the My Mommy MomentsTM line. I found some nice, fashionable fabric that I liked and designed, cut out and sewed the first Privacy Breastfeeding Coverup.
